[ 🤔 A new question every Monday ]
A Local Rule is in place so that a ball at rest in a particular penalty area and if relief is to be taken it must be taken at the marked drop zone (for 1 penalty stroke).
Playing stroke, David’s tee stroke has come to rest in that penalty area, and he must use the drop zone.
He drops a ball in the right way, and it comes to rest on the ground closer to the hole outside the edge of the drop zone, but with part of the ball overhanging the line defining the drop zone.
David lifts his ball and redrops it so that it comes to rest inside the drop zone, then plays that to the putting green.
He completes the hole with 2 more strokes then starts the next.
What is David’s correct score for the hole?

Liz and Jill are playing stroke.
After 4 strokes each, Jill’s ball is at rest on the putting green (with a long putt coming up) and Liz’s ball is at rest on the fringe of the putting green.
Jill putts and whilst her ball is in motion, Liz plays from the fringe and her ball comes to rest on the putting green whilst Jill’s ball is still in motion.
Jill’s ball then strikes Liz’s stationary ball (which Liz notices) on the putting green and moves it some 60cm (2 feet). Jill’s ball comes to rest near the hole.
From the current location of the balls, each player takes 2 strokes to hole out, then start the next hole.
What are the player’s respective scores for the hole?

[ 🤔 A new question every Monday ]
In a stroke round, Greg plays his third stroke from the putting green and whilst his ball is in motion it is deflected by a recalcitrant duck feeding on the putting green.
The deflected ball comes to rest on the fringe of the putting green.
A disappointed Greg plays his ball as it lies and this stroke comes to rest well past the hole but at least is on the putting green.
His next stroke is errant and strikes a sand wedge (left on the putting green and well out of the way of any intended stroke) and comes to rest still on the putting green.
Greg replays that stroke, takes 2 more strokes to hole out then starts the next hole.
What is Greg’s score for the hole?

LOVE THE GAME OF GOLF Â

Here’s a space and opportunity for golfers of all persuasions to review, interact, contribute, resolve scenarios, and seek support for issues associated with this great game.
Site focus is on the new (2023) Rules of Golf, principally utilising Quizzes along with other supporting resources.
GolfHelp does not compete with or challenge other golf resource sites. It has evolved out of a passion for the game and is designed to complement what is already in place supporting all golfers to better understand the game.
GolfHelp was conceived and developed in early in 2022 whilst COVID took its toll on golf events around the world. With feedback and new ideas, it continued to evolve.
The introduction of the revised Rules of Golf in January 2023 realised a need to undertake a major overhaul of the quiz question base.
I also took this opportunity to overhaul the site structure, layout, stability, data conforming and security. It was eventually republished on 3rd May 2023.
Questions are constructed with a lively manner utilising actual scenarios. They include images and detailed solutions, including active Ruling links back to the R&A’s Rules of Golf.
Random Question Quizzes are categorised as easy, intermediate and challenging. The challenging Quizzes are generally for seasoned Rules Officials.
Quiz questions are randomly taken from categorised pools which are continually being enhanced.
There are a variety of Quiz formats: multiple choice, true/false, turbo true/false, knockout true/false, timed true/false, golf trivia (not rules based), certificate options and the popular ‘Who Am I’.
Coming soon will be user customised quizzes.
