[ 🤔 A new question every Monday ]
Playing stroke, Greg’s ball has come to rest in an unplayable lie in the general area.
He chooses to take unplayable lateral relief and correctly determines the relief area.
He drops a ball in the right way and whilst in motion the ball bounces from a stone and comes to rest in the branch (just off the ground) of a small bush, which is entirely within the relief area.
Thinking that relief has not been taken correctly, Greg lifts his ball and drops again (in the right way) coming to rest with a good lie within the original relief area.
Greg now plays that ball.
How many penalty strokes has Greg accrued?

[ 🤔 A new question every Monday ]
Liz and Jill are playing stroke.
Their tee strokes on the fourth hole being played have covered some 180m (200 yards) and have come to rest near each other in a bunker.
Jill to play first and gets Liz to mark and lift the other ball, ensuring it is not cleaned.
Jill’s manages to get out the bunker with her stroke.
Liz now replaces the ball she lifted (lie was not altered), removes the marker and plays a great stroke coming to rest well down the fairway.
Jill gets to the ball she played and now realises it was Liz’s ball. Liz confirms, then checks the ball she played and sure enough, it was Jill’s.
Jill knows she has played a wrong ball, places a different ball on a re-created lie of the spot from where Liz played Jill’s ball, then plays that to the fairway and from there take 3 more strokes to hole out.
Liz decides to continue with the ball that she has played (as it now lies), claiming a 2-stroke penalty (incorrect substitution, wrong place with no intervening event).
Liz plays this ball to the putting green then takes 2 more strokes to hole out.
Both players now start the fifth hole.
What are the scores for each player on the fourth hole?

LOVE THE GAME OF GOLF Â

Here’s a space and opportunity for golfers of all persuasions to review, interact, contribute, resolve scenarios, and seek support for issues associated with this great game.
Site focus is on the new (2023) Rules of Golf, principally utilising Quizzes along with other supporting resources.
GolfHelp does not compete with or challenge other golf resource sites. It has evolved out of a passion for the game and is designed to complement what is already in place supporting all golfers to better understand the game.
GolfHelp was conceived and developed in early in 2022 whilst COVID took its toll on golf events around the world. With feedback and new ideas, it continued to evolve.
The introduction of the revised Rules of Golf in January 2023 realised a need to undertake a major overhaul of the quiz question base.
I also took this opportunity to overhaul the site structure, layout, stability, data conforming and security. It was eventually republished on 3rd May 2023.
Questions are constructed with a lively manner utilising actual scenarios. They include images and detailed solutions, including active Ruling links back to the R&A’s Rules of Golf.
Random Question Quizzes are categorised as easy, intermediate and challenging. The challenging Quizzes are generally for seasoned Rules Officials.
Quiz questions are randomly taken from categorised pools which are continually being enhanced.
There are a variety of Quiz formats: multiple choice, true/false, turbo true/false, knockout true/false, timed true/false, golf trivia (not rules based), certificate options and the popular ‘Who Am I’.
Coming soon will be user customised quizzes.
