LOVE THE GAME OF GOLF
Well, here’s a space and opportunity for golfers of all persuasions to review, interact, contribute, resolve scenarios, and seek support for issues associated with this great game.
Site focus is the 2023 Rules of Golf and associated Quiz sets and with plenty more to follow in due course: polls, surveys, blogs, newsletters and Quiz Night sheets.
GolfHelp does not compete with or challenge other golf resource sites. It has evolved out of a passion for the game and is designed to complement what is already in place supporting all golfers to better understand the game.
GolfHelp was conceived and developed in early in 2022 whilst COVID took its toll on golf events around the world. With feedback and new ideas, it continued to evolve.
The introduction of the revised Rules of Golf in January 2023 realised a need to undertake a major overhaul of the quiz question base.
I took this opportunity to also overhaul the site structure, layout, stability, data conforming and security. It was eventually republished on 3rd May 2023.
Questions are constructed with a lively nature and presence. They include images and detailed solutions, including active ruling links back to the R&A’s Rules of Golf.
Random Question Quizzes are categorised as easy, intermediate and challenging and these are generally established for seasoned Rules Officials.
Quiz questions are randomly taken from categorised pools which are being added too regularly.
There are a variety of Quiz formats: multiple choice, true/false, turbo true/false, knockout true/false, timed true/false, golf trivia (not rules based), certificate options and the popular ‘Who Am I’.
Coming soon will be user customised quizzes.
Here’s the quiz index.

In a stroke round, Greg’s tee stroke comes to rest in a red penalty area. His ball is playable but the poor stroke just gets out of the penalty area and rolls back into it.
He returns to the tee and puts a long stroke into play which comes to rest embedded in the face of a bunker. He decides to take back-on-line penalty relief outside the bunker and establishes the correct line.
Greg drops a ball some 30cm (1 foot) from the line and comes to rest on the line, not closer to the hole than where the ball first touched the ground.
From that spot Greg takes 3 more strokes to complete the hole.
What is Greg’s score for the hole?
Greg scores 11
Greg is permitted to take relief from the penalty area at the last spot played from outside that penalty area for just 1 penalty stroke [Rule: 17.2a(2)].
Taking unplayable relief outside the bunker attracts 2 penalty strokes [Rule: 19.3b].
Greg also attracts a further 2 penalty strokes for not dropping the ball 'on the line' initially and not correcting the error [Clarification: 14.3b(4)/1].
Both 2-stroke penalties accumulate to 4 strokes [Rule: 1.3c(4)].
Greg has taken 6 talent strokes (TS) and attracts 5 penalty strokes (PS).
Greg scores 11.
