David's tee stroke has come to rest in the general area near the edge of a greenside bunker.
Before he makes a stroke, a kangaroo (yes, in Australia, this does happen) bounds through the bunker worsening the conditions affecting his next stroke (line of play).
As an animal worsened the conditions, David is not permitted to restore those worsened conditions.     [REF: 4T1029]

In a stroke round, Jill's ball is at rest on the putting green (after 4 strokes) and she has line-of-play interference by some temporary water on the putting green.
She marks and lifts her ball and correctly determines the nearest point of complete relief which happens to be 'off' the putting green, but in the general area.
She places the ball on that spot.
Before she can make a stroke, a gust of wind causes the ball to roll down a slight slope and come to rest about 1m (3 feet) further from the hole, but still in the general area.
Jill replaces her ball, takes 2 strokes to hole out then starts the next.
What is Jill's score for the hole?       [REF: 4M1042]

Liz and Jill are playing as opponents in a singles handicap match.
Before they tee off on the first hole (a non-handicap hole for both players), Liz tells Jill she has a handicap of 12 when her correct handicap is 11.
Jill advises Liz her handicap is 10 and this is correct.
Jill plays first from the tee. Just before Liz plays, she realises her mistake and advises Jill of her correct handicap of 11. They complete the first hole with Liz winning it.
Before either player starts the second hole, Jill advises Liz she will request a Ruling on Liz’s handicap error/correction. The match continues and is completed with Liz still 1-up.
Before the result is announced the Committee should Rule that Liz is disqualified.  [REF: 4T1039]

women discussing golf

Greg is playing a match and has been getting advice from 2 caddies since his round started.
Both he and his opponent are unaware that this is not permitted.
Greg wins the fourth hole, is now is 1-up (as agreed between the players) and continues discussing strategies with both caddies.
Before either player tees off off on the fifth hole, Greg becomes aware of his Rule breach, and immediately discontinues with one of the caddies.
His opponent requests a Ruling for when a Rules Official becomes available. The players play out the fifth hole, which Greg wins.
A Rules Official becomes available and is consulted.
The correct status of the match:   The match is tied ('all square') and players proceed to the sixth hole.       [REF: 4T1014]

frustrated caddies

Playing stroke, Greg's long tee stroke has come to rest in some thick vegetation to the right of the fairway. He does not play a provisional ball.
Within the 3-minute search time, Greg finds what he believes to be his ball, but also finds an identical ball close by and he cannot determine which one is his.
He chooses one of the balls and take 4 strokes with it to hole out.
Before starting the next hole, he is made aware of his error(s) and returns to the teeing area and from there takes 5 strokes to complete the hole.
Greg's score for the hole is 9.      [REF: 4T1040]

lost golf ball

In a stroke round, Liz finds her ball at rest in the general area as in the image.
She thinks the tuft of turf is loose and attempts to pick it up (without moving her ball).
She finds that it is still attached and in reinstating its original position the ball accidentally moves.
Liz replaces the ball correctly and then makes a stroke.
There is no penalty.   [REF: 4T1037]
