LOVE THE GAME OF GOLF
Well, here’s a space and opportunity for golfers of all persuasions to review, interact, contribute, resolve scenarios, and seek support for issues associated with this great game.
Site focus is the 2023 Rules of Golf and associated Quiz sets and with plenty more to follow in due course: polls, surveys, blogs, newsletters and Quiz Night sheets.
GolfHelp does not compete with or challenge other golf resource sites. It has evolved out of a passion for the game and is designed to complement what is already in place supporting all golfers to better understand the game.
GolfHelp was conceived and developed in early in 2022 whilst COVID took its toll on golf events around the world. With feedback and new ideas, it continued to evolve.
The introduction of the revised Rules of Golf in January 2023 realised a need to undertake a major overhaul of the quiz question base.
I took this opportunity to also overhaul the site structure, layout, stability, data conforming and security. It was eventually republished on 3rd May 2023.
Questions are constructed with a lively nature and presence. They include images and detailed solutions, including active ruling links back to the R&A’s Rules of Golf.
Random Question Quizzes are categorised as easy, intermediate and challenging and these are generally established for seasoned Rules Officials.
Quiz questions are randomly taken from categorised pools which are being added too regularly.
There are a variety of Quiz formats: multiple choice, true/false, turbo true/false, knockout true/false, timed true/false, golf trivia (not rules based), certificate options and the popular ‘Who Am I’.
Coming soon will be user customised quizzes.
Here’s the quiz index.

David and Greg are playing as a side in a four-ball ‘medal’ stroke round. On the 15th hole both David and Greg score a 4 and the scores are entered correctly for the hole. The round score for the side is 78 strokes and is submitted.
Before the results of the round become final, it comes to the Committee’s attention that Greg had used his bare finger to mark his ball on the putting green of the 15th hole to rotate the ball for realignment. Neither player was aware this was a breach of the Rules.
The round score for the side is:
The side's score remains at 78
A ball-marker must an artificial object (not a bare finger). As the players were not aware of the breach, then [Rule: 3.3b(3) Exception] applies and the Committee will add the 1-stroke penalty [Rule: 14.1a] to Greg’s score.
However, as both had entered the same score for the hole, the Committee may use either, even if one is found to be wrong [Rule: 23.2b(2) and Clarification: 23.2b/2 … last bullet point].
Therefore, no penalty applies and the round score of 78 stands.
Note: If one of the scores was found to be wrong and lower than the 4 allocated then the score of 4 still stands for the hole and again, no adjustment is made [Rule: 23.2b(2)].
The side's score remains at 78.
